Weh no Su? Me too!
With Healbot in good shape for GW:EN, I’m playing my other lvl 20’s to bring them along a little more. My Ele, Orixa, is the second to run through the primary missions in Factions. I’m glad I can now play around with her secondary classes. I’ve been surprised by how effective nukers are even without Elites (only Double Dragon capped currently). She does fine with Earth armor and AoE fire.
My warrior girl is in satisfactory shape, although her gear is pretty plain. I don’t think I’ll be going back to my Ranger, who is at a dead stop in the Ring of Fire. My Necro…well, level twelve and 2 years old, sigh.
Nukers have no need for Elites. Infact many of the Ele Elites except maybe for Sandstorm and DD are rather not all that good. SF is a over hyped Elite imho. Infact I got into a UW group once with my Ele and the Group Leader kicked me cause I had no Elite on my bar. I had told her there was no need. *cough Obvious she was a Elitist cough*

I prefer to avoid true nuking altogether. I like my Shatterstone + Vapor Blade combo, it can bring things at least down to half health. I swore to only use fire magic in a select few situations (i.e. the Jungle).

Hmm, I almost never see cold damage hitting for max. Always seems greatly reduced when I use Water spells or cold weapons. Unless I find some Elite tomes, I doubt my Ele will acquire any end-game skills.
Maybe I’ll just use ones that have cool animation!

I agree, some of the best AB and HoH builds I have seen are not nukers.

I also prefer not to be a “nuker” per se, but rather kill my prey through a combo of degen and hexes. Oh, and by the way I sent you a guild invite Lab.

Spreading degen is a favorite tactic of mine too, since it doesn’t hinge much on skillbar combos. All you need are the different types stacked up (poison, burning, etc). Sadly, its another fun thing my monk doesn’t get to do.

Somehow the purity of Lightning attacks has intrigued me again. My Ele used Air in the beginning - now with full attribute points I’m trying more combos. Unavoidable spikes and some hex degen perhaps? Fortunately I had enough staff mods to make a +20E staff in something other than Fire.
PS: opinions on swords with the “+15% dmg/-5E” inherent modifier? Found a gold crenelated with it.

Simply tasty when your warrior uses a lot of Adrenal skills. Energy? Not necessary!

Heheh, I think some of my level 20s aren’t going anywhere fast as well..anyway, I agree, SF is definitely overrated, although I admit I’m guilty of putting it on my ele hero when he’s using fire magic(which is his usual line).
Oh and if you ever feel the urge to finish up RoF with your ranger, send me a pm(my listed name is also one of my characters’ names) and I’ll be glad to help out - it’s my favorite part of Tyria so far!

yeah if u want some help with ur other chars to lvl 20 i can help. i have all next week to just play gw before class starts back for the fall. can do some runs or just help out on quests and mish for free if u need it. char name is the comment name.
