Only 239 Superb Charr Carvings to go…

Filed under: Comics & Games — labsenpai @ 6:43 pm

Honestly, most of the special collectibles for EoTN are beyond the reach of a casual, non-farming player. Unless you arrived at Boreal Station with more gold than Emperor Kisu and overflowing craft storage, all the sparkly-shinys will be a soul-crushing distance away. I’m well aware that my anti-grind preference places me in a minority, given the “rules of acquisition” that took over when title farming erupted in PvE. I’m just a little dismayed that even the NPCs will snub you if your ranks are too low.

  1. No arguments there. I’m just glad that I don’t like any of the standalone armor pieces, so I can make the big bucks selling the collectibles to the people who do. :D

  2. Only thing that looks semi good to me would be those Dragon Gauntlets, other than that i’m not going to waste my life away for some armor piece. A title, Maybe, armor, hell no.

  3. I do enjoy that some of the title rewards are actual skills (NOT based on your PRIMARY CLASS this time). Maybe I’m just bemoaning my inability to keep pace with the well-equipped. You see players with rare things so quickly, then your hopes of having them too are dashed after researching the material costs/number of completed tasks required.

  4. All I want is one pair of Asuran glasses. That’s all. Other than that, I don’t care for farming either.

  5. Me and my stupid desire to have destroyer gauntlets for a few of my toons. I think ANet need to have a Destroyer Core X 500 drop weekend. I love the glasses as well, but they are much more attainable and I have a few of my caster classes running around with them.

    Stupid Destroyer Gauntlets…

  6. Indeed, you are right my friend.
I try to get the Vanguard Armour for my necromancer, but unfortunately after completing all quests and relevant Dungeons I still have to gain around 10.000 Faction by grinding and beating up sweet little “rawr-rawr-Charrsies”, which really kills my desire for this armour :(

  7. so many jotun so little time…
I fell inadequate to see these people with the really nice armor and the time to farm for everything. I have neither 1) the patience or 2) the time to farm for everything thus making one set of leet armor take a good month to attain everything for. and having to kill stuff to gain a title to craft armor kindah makes it suck so much moreso than is absolutely necessary…
expect norn threads by sometime in october

  8. The best thing is that in pre-view even you needed only 35 Glacial Stones to get gloves. Now you need 100. I wonder how a normal player without a farming character can make it… NOT by playing game normally. Because you would travel with 8 players, you would have to kill 800 monsters. And since they drop collectable loot once per… 5 kills? you need to kill about 4000 monsters? Come ON!
And about armors and titles - who needs them? They are reskins anyway.

  10. odd, my comp crashed mid comment….

anyway, i know that anet wants to give players alot to do while we wait, counting the seconds untill GW2, but the hall of monuments is really limited, ONLY destroyer weapons *hugs end of factions greens*, and only three areas to farm for Charr points, i would rather have gotten EOTN in like weekly instalments or something, every time you get tired of something, new stuff comes along.

  11. Yes, even your own Monument is too l33t. You can’t display armor unless it is a set, companion statues aren’t allowed unless they strut the special Hero armor, etc. Was it too hard to make it reproduce unique things? I think I’ll be selling my extra mini-pets now.

  12. Alright, you think it is hard for some of you. It took me nine monthys to beat proph on one character. The AB serines keep calling me, so every time I start on a good farming run with one of my builds, it pops in the back of my head. “I wonder how this will work in AB..” so off for two hours of kurzick killing I go. *sighs* And I can’t save the money, let alone the materials for the armors. I have an issue with new weapons…i save and save for armor, then I see a shiny staff, and I must have, then after two days I’m bored with it, and broke.

Fully agree, Had high hopes for EotN, fell short a few places, and i’ve hated title grinding, specially in NF, It should be a choice, not a requirement to progess in the storyline, after Rank 3 of any faction title(GWEN) I found it too difficult to farm up much higher (Theres only so many times you can do Secret Lair of the Snowmen…)
    -rant over-
P.S Anyone who wants to do lair of the snowmen for a laugh but can’t be asked getting the map parts, i’d be happy to let yeh tag along. (P.M White Mage Nel or Nel Zelpheer :D)

  15. I hate the whole farming thing as well, but I do like EXPLORING. So I get an idea of what I would like and need for it… ie Superb Charr Carvings, then go exploring and doing quests in those areas, (read ‘what’s up with Vael today?’) being sure to save those items. I guess I’ve learned not to stress about “quickly” getting things I’d like, because I don’t do the farming thing very well. I enjoy playing to play, and it may be eons before I get where I want to go, but by darn, I’ll enjoy the ride.
