Best modifier mixes?

Filed under: Comics & Games — labsenpai @ 2:55 pm

Now that Healbot has a tidy pile of inscriptions and mods, I need to make some choices on combinations. Particularly, I’m wondering what makes the best “homemade” shield for a Warrior (not that I play mine much)? I have mods that give armor bonuses vs piercing, slashing, fire, earth, and some +4 all-around ones. Plus, there are the +HP handles to choose from. I have 2 shields to mod, one with Strength req and one Tactics. My default shield has always been the boring Bronze Factions shield with +30 HP/ -5 dmg percentage chance.

This week I also completed the Asuran “facet” quests, which rewarded me with skills and a green staff. I also survived Frostmaw’s Burrow in Hard Mode, with a guild group. Dungeons shouldn’t have more than 3 levels…I get “caffeine nerves” if they take any longer :D

Minor EotN Gallery Change

Filed under: Comics & Games — labsenpai @ 5:08 pm

In order to trim the Healbot page, I removed the large EotN group picture. You can still view it by clicking on the new hot spot that has EotN written in it. Also, the MADAM banner is accessible by clicking on Gwen’s glaring face.

I will be very glad when I don’t have to use Dreamweaver to make pages…

Rumblings and Grumblings…

Filed under: Comics & Games, Site News — labsenpai @ 12:24 pm

I’ve finished a small Healbot addition for the site, but it requires some “interactive scripting” before I upload it. That part rests in the hands of my friend/web master. It will be self-explanatory, and good for about 1.5 minutes of entertainment!

I have to grumble about the film mis-treatment of one of my favorite games, Dungeon Siege. I cannot even bring myself to pay for a ticket after reading the scathing reviews. I now join the long line of nerds that have had their soul withered by evil movies made about their favorite things.  Sadly, the lesser known games and comics have only a fraction of the fan base that worship titles like Star Trek. Those juggernauts live on even after the creators and actors have sunk their knives into it. At least Mr. Boll won’t have another chance to destroy a chunk of fandom…hopefully.

Rank Skills for my Monk?

Filed under: Comics & Games — labsenpai @ 4:50 pm

I know I’m behind the times, with the majority of special “title rank” skills still thousands of points away. However, I’ve seen some other monks using them during quests, so I nabbed a few. The easiest to acquire are probably the Sunspear skills, since you receive enough points just finishing the story to have near-max power. Sadly, I’m not fond of Seed of Life, which depends heavily on timing and Divine Favor. In comparison, the Ritualist and Necromancer skills are awesome (as Healbot would say). In EotN, most of my points are with the Asuran race. Pain Inverter seems to be a popular skill for dungeon delving.

In other H-bot news, I sent an image to a web-shop that prints tees. After it arrives, I’ll post a photo.

Break for Board Games?

Filed under: Comics & Games — labsenpai @ 4:58 pm

Unlike many gamers, I’ve never had a strong interest in card or board games. In such games, one would usually fall victim to the roll of one die or the experienced opponent who knew how to stack the deck. Only recently have I been made aware of games with RP-style characters, vast item selection, and complex settings. My friends (with deeper pockets) have bought many of these “deluxe” board games, and we’ve started on the ones from a company called Fantasy Flight. Of these I prefer the “co-op” ones, like Arkham Horror. The games with teams aren’t bad, but having one unlucky event happen to your side can send everyone downhill fast. Naturally, invoking a house rule or two can make a big difference in enjoyability. For instance, in the World of Warcraft board game, we decided to add “hearthstones” so players could return to safe cities to heal or buy goods. Currently, we are testing Tannhauser, which reminds me of the Wolfenstein PC games.

As an artist, I’d love work on the illustrations required for a premium product like these…

Fight on, Healbot!

Filed under: Comics & Games, Site News — labsenpai @ 4:21 pm

At last, the glimpse into Healbot’s future - where all is not generous healing and n00b rezzing! This is the last “weekly” comic; I’ll be changing things around as you know, and scripting a more user-friendly gallery.

My thanks to all viewers, especially those that say “gj” , or put a few bucks in my PayPal account. To the amphibians at Anet…I’ll see you at GENCON. Bring Swiss Cake Rolls. :D

If there is ever a Healbot T-Shirt…

Filed under: Site News — labsenpai @ 3:39 pm

It will be produced by my co-gaming, silk-screen wielding friends at Psycho Reindeer! They make designs you don’t see on every Gen-Y shopper, and have launched a new website for convenient ordering. Don’t tell anyone, but the owner plays a Fighter in my AD&D campaign, and the talented guy who coded our respective websites is the Cleric. ^_^

So, I need Bot-readers to go and buy some shirts. Then, my friend will think this comic is awesome and should have its own line of SHIRTS! MUWAHAHA!
