Rank Skills for my Monk?

Filed under: Comics & Games — labsenpai @ 4:50 pm

I know I’m behind the times, with the majority of special “title rank” skills still thousands of points away. However, I’ve seen some other monks using them during quests, so I nabbed a few. The easiest to acquire are probably the Sunspear skills, since you receive enough points just finishing the story to have near-max power. Sadly, I’m not fond of Seed of Life, which depends heavily on timing and Divine Favor. In comparison, the Ritualist and Necromancer skills are awesome (as Healbot would say). In EotN, most of my points are with the Asuran race. Pain Inverter seems to be a popular skill for dungeon delving.

In other H-bot news, I sent an image to a web-shop that prints tees. After it arrives, I’ll post a photo.

  1. This weekend is a Double Lightbringer/Sunspear Bonus, too!

/agree, the Rit and Necro ones are the best. Putrid Bile and Necrosis, Vamp and Painful Bond…

  2. yeah, Pain Inverter is like, empathy and backfire combined, so a skill bar with all three pone all teh noobz! (or just the last boss in slavers,)

  3. I too think See of Life is mediocre. The only time I see it being useful is when you’re using a tank, which is very little now-a-days since the AI changes. Always fun to put Seed of Life or Healing Seed on someone, only to have every enemy decide to stop attacking them.

Also, Air of Superiority is always a fun skill, especially how your character starts yelling random stuff when enemies die.

  4. Asuran skills are probably the best grab bag overall for casters, but my absolute favorite, don’t-leave-camp-without-it skill has to be “Finish Him!”

Sunspear skills seemed pretty hit-and-miss. What I found upsetting was that the few that sounded universally useful required primary-only attribute ranks (”There’s Nothing to Fear!”). As a PVE Elementalist, Intensity was also a bit underwhelming. A two-spell spike that I can only use every minute or so, at the cost of a skill slot? Tres non-chic, mes amis.

  5. I tried the Ritualist Sunspear skill in a Mo/Rit build that made use of the “spirit-enhanced” healing in the Restoration attribute. If you use Gift of Health, you can still “monk” by equipping Mend Body & Soul, Vengeful Weapon, etc. The overall healing can be high, but you need around 10 points in Restoration. That negates using much Prot, or Divine Favor. Also, there is no way to insure that teammates stay within range of the Spirit.

  6. I kind like using the Kurzick/Luxon allegiance skills for my monk. I use Mo/A with Shadow Sanctuary for defense or Selfless Spirit to spam healing in tight spots.

  7. The best Sunspear skill is Eternal Aura. Permanent form ftw!

  8. I was just wondering, which character do you frequent the most? :P

I’ve got Lin Chingha and Red Nails Xue written down, but the rest elude me.

  9. btw, healing seed is best used on a tank RIGHT before they charge in. My tanks usually get a healing seed ~ spirit bond combo right before charging la spikers

  10. Seed of Life was ridiculous when the PvE-only skills were first rolled out. It lasted a lot longer than it does now, and would routinely fill the entire screen with blue numbers.

  11. Well, the printed T-shirt arrived, and it looks rather poor. Nothing beats real ink & screen printing I guess.
