Last week I wasn’t vigilant about disconnecting during a storm, and my broadband equipment was partially fried. Naturally, this was a day before some GW gaming had been planned. So, instead of simply meeting over the net, I had to drive to my cohort’s house and borrow an ethernet card, plus leech his connection. Anyway, Healbot helped my friend gain 1.5 levels, which is a big step for someone who hasn’t made it to lvl20 in 2 years :/

The announcement of personnel change isn’t new, but I had to wait on screencaps of Regina’s in-game character(s). Appearing in this bonus comic is her new Mesmer, listening to Healbot’s usual demands. I think I read that her lvl20 character was a Necro, a class I’d like to include in the comic. Besides, everyone knows that having two Mesmers in a group is just about statistically impossible

I noticed the last time I logged on that my Monk Lin has accumulated just over 3,000,000 exp. I’d say that only 10% of that was from farming areas like the Scarab queen nest. Most of the time I even forget to use the Scrolls in my inventory! Naturally, there are still many missions yet to do…the only one completed since my last itinerary posting was Dasha Vestibule.

Since the new gallery refurb is going slow, I’ll make a bonus comic this week.

Since I’m a midwestern gamer, you would think I’d have been to a GENCON already. I suppose the anime Cons were more of a draw to my younger self. Anyway, if any readers are attending, feel free to stop me in the crowd and demand a sketch. For which I will demand currency or Mountain Dew.

I had considered participating in the Art Show, but the display fee is too high. I’d have to sell a couple illustrations just to fill that hole in my wallet.

My lazy monk hasn’t made too much progress lately; questing seems to have been swept under the Charr skin rug now that farming is the premier PvE motivator. Healbot had to H&H nearly everything in Luxon territory, just to get that 10k faction “admission” to Gyala Hatchery. She still has a long way to go there to finish Factions. In Nightfall, she has a pair of locations yet to clear (not trying for Masters). Furthermore, progress still has to be made toward Dungeon completions in EoTN. I think the latter are beyond my skill to attempt solo. There needs to be a “passage” Scroll for teleporting through Sacnoth Valley…

My other characters? Pretty much poseable dolls now for gear & armor >_>

After all the May celebrations, some unwanted germs decided to hang around and make me regret having a busy schedule. This has meant a lot of free time for Healbot, who sneaks off to watch Korean love-drama videos instead of bringing me soup.

By the end of today, my little site will have had 300k visitors from around the world! They will have LOL’d at the Healbot Blues over 600,000 times. I’m betting this makes Healbot the second most notable Monk PC ever, right behind the goober that invented 55 farming.

Before I start on some new comics for the next Healbot “visitor milestone”, let me mention a few more artistic influences. These are the things that distracted me in high school and college, insuring my future existence as a lowly webcomic artist.

5) NEWTYPE Magazine - This giant publication was the otaku food I consumed for ten years (89-99). Although entirely unreadable, the excellent illustrations were worth the import price.

6) Wuxia Movies - When I was young, there were cheesy “Black Belt” movies on TV all the time. In the 1990’s, these types of movies returned, with better wire-fu and top-notch actors like Brigitte Lin. A good portion of my DVD collection is made up of films from both generations.

7) Anime - Believe it or not, there was a time when this genre was new. My exposure to hundreds of titles was granted by knowing an omnipotent laser-disc collector in LA, and working with local anime clubs. Narrowing down the list to “creative masterpieces” is difficult, and still reflects personal preference…but I’ll name some:

Miyazaki’s Films & Manga - This man should be cloned and sent to teach at every art college in the world.

Fantasy Videos - Record of Lodoss War. Vision of Escaflowne. Bastard!!. Berserk & Jyubei Ninpocho (for the strong stomached).

Comedy Videos - Maison Ikkoku. Azumanga Daioh. Dragon Half. Prefectural Earth Defense Force & Animation Runner Kuromi.

Sci-Fi Videos - SDF Macross. Memories. Bubblegum Crisis. Paprika. Gundam 0080. Ghost in the Shell TV. Gunbuster & Daibuster OAVs.

Computer Games - Yeah, there’s this online game with hot chicks and flaming swords…Guild Wars? There’s even a monument to decorate, kinda like in Animal Crossing…
